Looking to save money on your utility bills? Want to live or work in a healthier environment? Need to hire an eco-consultant? The 21 century is among us and going green is not just a movement anymore, it is just reality. Over 60 years ago society fell off its diet and fell in love with quick, easy and mass production. But like all dieters most of us can’t go about it alone and we need some help. We need a personal trainer, or in this case an eco-consultant. Don’t know what to look for in an eco-consultant, here are 4 tips.
First you always want to make sure you are getting Value. Before you go out researching eco-consultants get a plan together. Once you know what you want you will be able to gauge who will best meet your needs, solve your problem and do it within your budget.
Second is getting a signed Contract. No matter how big or small the project, a professional eco-consultant will present to you a project proposal (A.K.A project contract). The proposal will outline your needs and goals along with the cost of the project. Signing the contract will protect you legally if any discrepancy situations arise.
Fourth is look at their Personality. Just because they are an eco-consultant does not mean you should just hire them. You want to make sure that their personality matches with your personality. This way you know the strategies they develop to save money and increase health will work and make sense to you.
Last but I feel most important is Cost. This was taught to me by my mentor Jim Simoce from Simcoe Consulting and I strongly believe in this philosophy. When hiring an eco-consultant you want someone who charges by the project, not by the hour. When a consultant charges by the project you know you will be able to call them anytime with questions and not have it added to your bill.
Hiring an eco-consultant should not be taken lightly. A large project can cost you a lot of money therefore you want to make sure you have hired the right eco-consultant from the beginning. For more information contact me at www.ecoconsultant.ca
